Course Introduction
The Employment Equity Act (EEA) is a cornerstone of South Africa's labour laws, designed to promote equality and fairness in the workplace by addressing discrimination and ensuring that historically disadvantaged groups are given equal opportunities. This course provides an in-depth exploration of the EEA, focusing on the latest amendments, compliance procedures, and practical strategies for achieving and maintaining equity in the workplace. Course Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Have a clear understanding of the Employment Equity Act and its implications.
- Understand key terms such as “designated groups”, “disabled”, and “designated employers”.
- Gain a deeper insight into the latest amendments to the EEA.
- Understand Employment Equity Plans (EAP) and Sectorial Targets and learn how to calculate it.
- Understand how to obtain and use the Certificate of Compliance to demonstrate EEA compliance.
- Recognize and manage different occupational levels as required by the Act.
- Learn how to appoint and manage an Employment Equity (EE) Committee and EE Manager, and how to conduct effective meetings to ensure progress and compliance.
