BBBEE
  • Black Economic Empowerment is not affirmative action, although employment equity forms part of it. It is a growth strategy targeting inequality.
  • This is an instrument aimed at broadening the economic growth, development , enterprise development and creating employment
  • BEE serves as empowering more previously disadvantaged, to own and manage enterprises.
  • BEE assigns points values to the seven elements of the BEE scorecard

Types of companies:

EME (Exempt Micro Enterprise)

This is a company has an annual turnover of less than R5 million. These companies are automatically given a BEE Scorecard of 65 points (Level 4) or if the majority is black owned, a score of 75 points (Level 3)

QSE (Qualifying Small Enterprise)

This is an enterprise with an annual turnover of between R5 Million and R35 Million. QSE’s will need to fill in a scorecard, but must choose only 4 of the 7 elements.

GENERIC
All companies with an annual turnover above R35 Million per annum. They need to comply with all the 7 elements
